My main research interest is the field of evolutionary organisation theory from a Systems perspective. I try to understand the development of complex organisational systems such as inter- firm networks and multilateral alliances. My special interest is in the airline industry.
I have been trying to understand the implications for corporate governance of individual firms within such an alliancing environment. Using an evolutionary perspective (i.e., organisations are assumed to move toward an open future which they themselves are “creating”), I am particularly interested in the role -and formation- of technical, social and cognitive institutions and the impact these various institutions have on organisational development and inter- organisational behaviour in loosely coupled organisations.
